Born Newcastle upon Tyne, 1885; occupation architect; commissioned as Second Lieutenant in the 9th Battalion The Durham Light Infantry in October 1914; awarded the Military Cross during the Battle of the Somme on 1 October 1916; spent the later part of the First World War at the Army Lewis Gun School; died 1972. Medals in DLI Medal Collection.
