Catalogue Description

The earliest deed referred to is a lease of 5 May 1871 by Richard Gardner to the North Brancepeth Coal Company. There was then an indenture between Richard Gardner, William Dale Trotter and William Vickers Thompson, splitting the property into 3 equal shares.

What happened to the shares held by Gardner and Thompson is unclear from these deeds, as these deeds relate primarily to the sale and ownership of Trotter's share.

At some point between 1927 and 1937, the property was divided into two houses, 143 and 144 Front Street. Previous deeds give only a brief description, though some also contain a map.
