29 August 1820 (1) Elizabeth Woodcock of Cheltenham, Gloucester, widow (2) The Reverend Robert Gray, D.D., Rector of Bishopwearmouth; the Reverend Robert Gray, Rector of Sunderland near the Sea; the Reverend Thomas Baker, Rector of Whitburn; and others Declaration of trusts of property (almshouses built by (1)) which she surrendered to (2) by the within recited deeds of 12 July 1820. The ten almshouses to be occupied by women aged 56 or upwards of irreproachable moral character, each a member of the Church of England, the widow or unmarried daughter of a master mariner who was resident in the parishes of Sunderland or Bishopwearmouth and commanded a vessel belonging to the port of Sunderland, not receiving any poor relief and not possessing an estate of more than £20 p.a. clear. Declaration of trusts of sum of £3,333 6s.8d. 3% Consols in favour of (2) to pay the income to the ten almshouse residents. Declaration of trusts of £836 6s.8d. 3% Annuities for the insurance of the buildings, payment of the matron of the almshouse etc. Regulation of the composition of the board of trustees.
