Stanhope Castle Approved School (Ref: D/Ph 520/)

Stanhope Castle Approved School was opened in 1941. It was managed by the Home Office until 1974, when it passed to Cleveland County Council. In 1980, the school was closed and the building converted into private apartments.
Because the school was run by Home Office, records are kept at The National Archives in Kew, London. It forms a subseries within BN 62.
Records for the period during which it was run by Cleveland County Council may be at Teesside Archives.
