Catalogue Description

Office Draft Deeds, 1800-1850
These deeds are arranged initially by year. Within a given year they follow an alpha-numerical code related to the initial letter of the clients's urname and the date within the year. A small number of other draft deeds has been included; these are to be found at the end of a given year. This arrangement obtains for the Wheldon era and not thereafter.

T. Wheldon or Thomas Wheldon is an abbreviation for Thomas Wheldon of Barnard Castle, gentleman. Other parties to deeds are similarly abbreviated if their names are repeated in the next catalogue entry. If they re-appear after several intervening entries then they are described in full.

For further draft deeds see under the individual clients in sections D/HH 2 and D/HH 5 - D/HH 9. For the deeds themselves see those sections and the later parts of this section (D/HH 3/2 et seq.)
