Copy letter from Mary Ann Cotton, Durham Gaol [Durham Prison] to William Lowrey, Post Office, West Auckland, in which she asks him to contact Miss Todd, Mrs Beed, William and George Taylor to state, as her witnesses, the way she treated her child, 23 July 1872

Copy letter from Mary Ann Cotton, Durham Gaol [Durham Prison] to William Lowrey, Johnson's Terrace, West Auckland, in which she instructs him to tell her solicitor to see her as soon as possible as she does not know his address. She also asks Lowrey to enquire if she is to be in Bishop Auckland on Saturday, and if she is, she would like to see him and George Hunter, 14 August 1872

She wants to see Lowrey on Tuesday to tell him more. She sends love to Leadley and friends, n.d. [possibly September 1872]

Copy letter from Mary Ann Cotton, Durham Gaol [Durham Prison] to William Lowrey, Johnson's Terrace, West Auckland, in which she expresses her wish to see him during visiting hours between 2 and 3 o'clock on Tuesdays and Fridays. She is awaiting a reply to her letter from Smith and wants to make sure that Lowrey paid him the £2 that she gave him for this purpose. She wants to see Smith as well as Hunter. Cotton enquires about her furniture. When finishing her letter she says she is 'middling' well and sends wishes to Lowrey and his wife, 9 October 1872

Copy letter from Mary Ann Cotton, Durham Gaol [Durham Prison] to [William Lowrey, Post Office, West Auckland], in which she complains that Smith has not been to see her since he was paid. She asks Lowrey to keep whatever belongings she has left. She does not know when the Assizes are to be held and she hopes he would be at her trial. She sends wishes to his wife and Headley, 27 October 1872

She wishes to meet Mrs Hunter. She sends wishes to his Lowrey's wife and the Headleys, 11 February [1873]

She needed the money last week and feels very unhappy about the way things are going on with him and Smith, February [1873]
