Catalogue Description

Etherley National School was established in 1833. It always had close ties to the local church and was also referred to as Etherley C.E. National School. Responsibility for running the school transferred to the County Council in 1912 and it became known as Etherley Council School (Mixed department).

In March 1915, Toft Hill School was opened. It appears to have been a continuation of Etherley National School under the same headmaster, Eli Rowley. See seperate listing for Toft Hill School.
