31 December 1774 (1) John Heaton the Elder of Romaldkirk, gent. (2) John Heaton the Younger of Lincolns Inn, Middlesex, gent. Grant by way of surrender by (1) to (2), according to customs of the Manor of Romaldkirk, of a messuage with outbuildings and a croft located north of them (purchased by Thomas Heaton, brother of (1) from Ann Walker, widow and Hannah Raine, widow and her son, Thomas Raine), in Romaldkirk, adjoining property of Joseph Longstaff and glebe called Grass Garth; together with a parcel of land called Beck, adjoining properties of: Anthony Bugginson; glebe called Brier Flatt North; Johnsons Close and Beckwath (also known as Limestone Rigg); the Flatts belonging to Wardle, lands of Anthony Hugginson and Bull Common Slot; together with lands known as Marle Sub and the Marle Sub Rigg (purchased by Thomas Heaton from Ann Walker), also land known as the Sainings Close, adjoining land of Henry Lawson Maire, esq.; also 2 acres of Crook Land Close adjoining highway to Mickleton and Crook Lands Consideration: £150 per annum for natural life of (1)
