Patrick Bowes Lyon, both of 41 Queen's Gate Gardens, South Kensington, Middlesex; George Auldjo Jamieson of 24 Saint Andrew Square, Edinburgh, Accountant; George Adolphus Western of 35 Essex Street, Strand, Middlesex, Solicitor (trustees) Irrevocable appointment by (1) and (2) to (3) of the Bowes Settled Estates (Streatlam, Gibside, Wemmergill etc.) to the use of (1) for life, thence to the use of (2) in tail male with further remainder to the younger sons of (1) successively in tail male, thence to (2) in tail general, thence to the daughters of (1) successively in tail general and ultimate remainder to (2) in fee simple. Power to charge £5000 p.a. on the premises ceasing if (1) is still living on 9 April 1895. Further powers (specified) for raising portions to a maximum of £60,000. Other borrowing powers specified. Conveyance by (1), as sole surviving trustee under the Bowes Estate Act 1850, to (3) upon trust, of all premises vested in him. Covenants for the surrender to (3) of copyholds held of the Manors of Evenwood and Whickham. Assignment of leaseholds to (3) upon trust etc. Detailed schedules of all lands dealt with by this settlement attached.

Frances Dora, Countess Dowager of Strathmore of 19 Hans Place, London (4) The Hon. John Herbert Bowes Lyon of St. Paul's Walden Bury; Charles Lindsay Claude Bowes Lyon of Ridley Hall, Northumberland; John William Western of 35 Essex Street, Strand, London, Solicitor Copy grant by (1) to (4) and release by (3) to (4) of the Bowes Estates as specified, subject to a rent charge of £2,500 to (3) in substitution of her existing rent charges of £2,000 charged upon the Bowes Estate and £500 charged upon the Ridley Hall Estates, to the use that (2) shall receive an annuity of £1,500 during the life of (1) from his marriage to Lady Dorothy Beatrix Godolphin Osborne and that Lady Dorothy shall receive and annuity of £1,000 (variable in circumstances specified). The present Countess of Strathmore to receive, if she survives (1), £2,000 p.a. until the death of (3) and thereafter £3,000 p.a., in full substitution for £500 p.a. charged on the Ridley Hall Estates and such sums as are charged in her favour upon the Glamis estates. Thence to the use of (2) for life, thence to his sons successively in tail male, thence to his brothers successively for life and to their sons successively in tail male with further remainder to the person next entitled to the Earldom of Strathmore. Further power for raising portions and jointures. Settlement of £83,595 5s.7d. ordinary stock in John Bowes and Partners Ltd. Schedules specifying the Bowes estates, the Ridley Hall estates, the expenditure of capital sums received from the sale of portions of the Ridley Hall Estates. Details of £97,300 outstanding on mortgage etc.
