Regimental Committees (Ref: D/DLI 1/3)Cottage Homes Management Committee, 1903 - 1923 (Ref: D/DLI 1/3/1-2)

Two cottages were built by public subscription at Western Hill, Durham, for disabled men of The Durham Light Infantry. They were known as 'The Durham Light Infantry Cottage Homes'. A third cottage, Cliffe Cottage, Darlington, was to be handed over by W.J. Wilson of Cliffe, Darlington.

The Management Committee ceased in 1922 when the assets were transferred to the Charity Commissioners in trust for The Durham Light Infantry Regimental Fund.

Regimental Committee, including the 68th Committee, 1948 - 1970 (Ref: D/DLI 1/3/3-8)

The Regimental Committee was reorganised in 1957 to include representation from the territorial battalions and affiliated regiments. The reorganised committee consisted of the 68th Committee, dealing exclusively with all matters of policy, domestic and financial business of the regular battalion and the depot, and the Regimental Committee,representing the territorial battalions, the affiliated regiments, formerly 5th, 7th and 9th Battalions, and the cadet battalions. The chairman of the Regimental Fund was a member of the committee.

Durham Light Infantry Locomotive (Ref: D/DLI 1/17)

Two locomotives have carried the name plate 'The Durham Light Infantry'.

The first was LNER Gresley Class V2 steam locomotive No. 60964, built at Darlington Works in 1943. It was named 'The Durham Light Infantry' at Durham Station on 29 April 1958 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Regiment. Before disposal at Swindon Works in 1964 the 60964 locomotive name plate was presented to the Regiment at the naming ceremony for the replacement locomotive in October 1963.

Class 55 Deltic diesel locomotive D9017 was named 'The Durham Light Infantry' at Durham Station on 29 October 1963. It was withdrawn from service at the end of 1981 and scrapped in January 1983. The diesel locomotive name plate was presented to the Regiment by British Rail at Gilesgate TA Centre in Durham City on 1 November 1983.

Both name plates are preserved in the DLI Objects Collection.
