Copy of will dated 28 October 1825 and codicil dated 26 November 1825 of Richard Kirton of New Elvet, Durham City, gent as follows: All real and personal estate to Edward Shafto of New Elvet, brewer and John Mason of Barmpton, gent., upon trust to sell and levy the sum of £1500 to place out at interest for the following bequests: £1 weekly for life to Ann Fletcher of Gilygate, Durham City, friend,and thereafter to pay the principal sum of £1000 to his natural son Richard Kirton (alias Fletcher) at the age of 25. The residue of £500 for the maintenance and education of Richard Kirton. In default £400 to Sarah Bailes, his natural daughter at the age of 25. In default £1000 each to Margaret and Catherine Ward of Norton, £500 each to Charles Tatham of Durham City, and his sister, £300 to Mrs Todd of Waldridge, and in default to her daughter Barbara Coxan to pay debt to Major Ralph Coxan. £300 to eldest son of John Kirton of Grays Inn, Middx. gent. £100 to William Handcock, his clerk and £100 each to the trustees.
