From evidence in the notebook, the writer, Robert Gray, lived at Lambton. He was born in 1802 to Edward and Hannah Gray and had five siblings. He was admitted on trial into the Methodist church on 7 March 1829. He married a Hannah and had a daughter, Mary Anne, born 12 July 1834.
