The book contains personal letters from Edward Heslop, and also letters as secretary to the High Toft Hill Colliery Co. (formed by officials and employees of the Carterthorne Colliery Co.), and on behalf of Spoor Brothers Colliery Ltd., and Carterthorne Colliery Co., by the latter of which Heslop had been employed as Bill and Pay Clerk.
