'A Short Story', an account of the foundation of the Wayfarers' Benevolent Association by J T Gibbons on 13 February 1926, and description of how Windlestone Hall, Ferryhill was acquired as a home for unemployed youths aged 15-21, c1936 The objects of the Association are listed: - to provide a home for destitute lads between the ages of 15 and 25 years - to recondition and train them morally and physically for the battle of life - to place them in employment where there is a reasonable prospect of them becoming useful citizens Includes names of Patrons, President and Vice Presidents Includes a letter from 'a grateful brother', Jock, Beckenham, Kent, who is now married, with a son and still in employment, 12 May 1936 Includes 'Ten Years Result', total number admitted 998 Includes photographs of youths in training Includes 'a few ways by which you can help a brother tramp'
