Copy letter from E H Kirkup, Agent, Strathmore Estates Office, Victoria Buildings, West Street, Gateshead to the Estate Bailiff and Gamekeepers, granting permission to Miss D A Noble of 52 Busty Bank, Burnopfield, to visit Gibside, excluding the dangerous buildings, 30 December 1964 The Chapel Keeper is to open the Chapel on request, but access to the vaults is prohibited No responsibility is accepted by Lord Strathmore or his servants for any accidents

Copy letter from Ernest H Kirkup, Leazes Hall, Burnopfield, to Dorothy Rand, by hand, returning a book and sending, via her father, the original valuation of the 'King Oak', 1808 which was felled about 1940 with the beech, 'because left alone, losing the shelter of surrounding trees, it would have blown down. It obviously survived the slaughter by Stoney Bowes of the Gibside woodlands about 1780', 24 August 1970
