Catalogue Description

The records in this collection were acquired by Canon Dr R. J. W. Bevan who was the last incumbent vicar of the church of St. Mary le Bow and St. Mary the Less, Durham, during the period 1960-1964. When Kingsgate Bridge opened in 1964, St. Mary le Bow closed and Canon Bevan became vicar of the united benefice of St. Oswald with St. Mary le Bow until 1974.
