Dryburn Hospital, Durham Recall Group (Ref: H/Du 135-139)

North Durham Acute Hospitals NHS Trust: Dryburn Hospital
Records of the Durham Recall Group
The Durham Recall Group was established in 1988 as a result of two years' work by Community Development Officer, Mike Syer, and his team, building up a library of copies of old photographs showing people and places in Durham and Chester-le-Street, between 1910 and 1960. The Group's honorary president was Gerry Steinberg, M.P.
The photographs were used as a memory pack and shown to elderly people attending day centres, living in residential homes or staying in hospital. Dryburn Hospital was the venue for the first meeting of the Group in October 1988.
The scheme was reported as expanding in December 1991, but appears to have ceased operating shortly after this.
