(2) Christopher Thompson of Sunderland near the Sea, gentleman; John Tempest of Winyard, esquire; Matthew Carr of Sunderland near the Sea, anchor smith (devisees and executors of William Maling of Sunderland near the Sea, gentleman another executor of Christopher Thompson the younger of Sunderland near the Sea, colefiller);
(3) Gordon Lewen, late of Wolsingham, now of Durham, draper;
(4) John Dodshon of Durham, merchant;

Reciting:
- mortgage by demise for 500 years to secure £150 of 17 June 1738 from (i) Gordon Lewen, late of Rayden, then of Wolsingham, gentleman to (ii) John Denton of Durham, periwig maker of (a);
- assignment of mortgage and further advance of 21 July 1739 between (i) Gordon Lewen, (ii) Rev John Thompson of Queen's College, Oxford and George Smith of Burnhall, esquire, (iii) Thomas Cowley of Layton, yeoman, (iv) John Denton, (v) Christopher Thompson the younger and (vi) Richard Clerk in which (i) assigned (a), then late in occupation of Thomas Taylor, and a fifth part of a rectory and tithes to (vi) in trust for (v), subject to equity of redemption by (i) on payment of £600;
- death of Christopher Thompson the younger and his will devising all real estate for which he was mortgagee to (2) which was proved by Christopher Thompson (testator's father) when John Tempest and Matthew Carr refused to act;
- £734.14.0 was now owing to Christopher Thompson;
- (4) had purchased (a) from (3) [see D/X 2337/2] for £230 out of which it was agreed to pay £119.14 to Christopher Thompson in part discharge of the mortgage, the residue of which was to be paid by George Smith, esquire, who had purchased the fifth part of the rectory

- £300 remained outstanding but all interest paid;
- (1) had agreed sale of (a) to (2) for £900 out of which the £300 owing to (2) was a part

- confirmation of the sale contract by Chancery on 25 July 1887;
