Catalogue Description

Darlington, Kendrew Street School

A British school which was set up for girls in 1848. Lady Fry formed a class for pupil teachers and a centre for cookery classes. In 1919 the school was re organised as a senior school for girls. The junior girls transferred to Darlington, Bondgate School and the Practising School. In 1922 it became a combined infants and junior mixed school; in 1927 it became a selective secondary school for boys and closed in 1932
