Catalogue Description

Darlington, St. Cuthbert, School

This was a national school set up in 1812, although there was a sunday school from about 1795. In 1824 a school was built in Leadyard with a boys and girls department. An infants' department started in 1874. The departments merged in 1922. In 1931 the school closed, most of the senior children going to Darlington, Beaumont Street School and the juniors and infants to Darlington, Borough Road School.
