'The Golden Treasury', a piece of music for brass band, was commissioned by Durham County Council for the opening of Clayport Library on 8 May 2002. The piece was composed by Rodney Newton and played by the Ever Ready Band.
Ref: DC/CS 3BATH opened as a library, information and arts centre in September 1993, a joint venture between Durham County Council and Wear Valley District Council. Management of BATH is overseen by a Joint Liaison Consultative Group, with members from the County and District Councils. The Joint Officers Working Party and the Centre Manager report to the J.L.C.G.
The Town Hall originally opened on 28 October 1862 and was used for meetings and concerts.
