Catalogue Description

St Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Crook was opened in 1863. The church hall was erected in 1875 and was used for the Sunday School, and from the 1960s it was a meeting place for the 6th Crook Scouts and Cubs.

The church regularly faced vacancies of the ministry post and the ministries were often joint with other local churches. In 1959 the congregation entered into joint pastorate with Trinity in Bishop Auckland, after a short period of joint pastorate with Willington church in 1950 until its closure soon after.

The church became St Andrew's United Reformed Church in 1972.

In December 2005 it amalgamated with Dawson Street Methodist Church in Crook, creating St Andrew's Dawson Street (Methodist and United Reformed) Church.
