The church opened on 10 December 1955 and was known as Newton Aycliffe Methodist Church until 1976, when a second church was opened in Burnhill Way. The church is sited on the corner of Neville Parade and Greville Way and is referred to in marriage registers as Greville Way Methodist Church.
