Catalogue Description

Spennymoor and Ferryhill Methodist Circuit

This circuit was formed in 1935 by the amalgamation of the Spennymoor Rosa Street (ex Primitive Methodist) and the Spennymoor Central (ex Wesleyan Methodist) circuits (which, before union in 1932 were the Primitive and Wesleyan Methodist Circuits respectively). These two circuits had included Ferryhill and the change was one of terminology and not of area. In view of this explanation no attempt has been made to cross-reference the items which run continuously in date during the period of change.
