Harrowgate Hill, Thompson Street Methodist Church (Ref: M/Da HarHT)

[known also as Thompson Street Methodist Church (originally Primitive Methodist)
Thompson Street and Lowson Street Methodist Churches (originally Wesleyan Methodist) have been united as Harrowgate Hill Church]

In January 1961, the two societies of Lowson Street (former Wesleyan) Methodist Church and Thompson Street (formerly Primitive) Methodist Church, united to form Harrowgate Hill Methodist Church. The Thompson Street Church closed for worship, though it continued to be used for community activities, and the congregations used the Lowson Street Church.

Harrowgate Hill Wesleyan Methodist Recreation Club, later Lowson Street Methodist Youth Club

The Harrowgate Hill Wesleyan Methodist Recreation Club was founded on 29 March 1920. The aim of the club was to encourage the playing of sport of all kinds: in the summer a cricket, and, in the winter a football, team was formed. The club continued until 1939 when the outbreak of the Second World War resulted in its being in abeyance. It was reformed in 1948 as the Lowson Street Methodist Youth Club Football Section.
