The Durham County Association of Trades Councils was formed in 1974 when the North East Federation of Trades Councils was ended. The following people served as secretaries of the C.A.T.C.

In 1990 the Trades Union Congress decided to close the C.A.T.C.s and link the branches directly to the T.U.C.
