Account of coals led to Dunston Staith from the several collieries of Sir Henry Liddell, Bart, and Partners (later Lord Ravensworth and Partners), by Thomas Shafto, 7 January - 31 December 1747 This annual account, of which the first sheet is missing, records, as a running total, the quantity of coals delivered to Dunston Staith from named collieries (Burdon Moor, Parkhead, Cawsey [Causey], Shield Row and Dawson's Tanfield), the quantity of coals vended in the current and previous year, the surplus or deficit over the previous year, the quantity of coals remaining at the staith, the running charge of expenses, and the quantities of best coal delivered to named customers.

Photograph album of The Lambton Collieries Limited, Newcastle upon Tyne, n.d., [ c.1907-1911] The photographs in this album were taken by Joseph Jobling of 34, Grey Street, Newcastle upon Tyne. They were probably taken between April 1907, when thirty Semet-Solvay coke ovens were installed at Lambton Coke Works, and August 1911, when The Lambton Collieries Limited became The Lambton and Hetton Collieries Limited.

Coal fitters' certificates, late 19th - early 20th c. (Ref: D/X 1482/3/1-29)

These certificates are a sample of unused printed forms. They have been selected for their printed letterheads, which feature engravings of ships loading at coal staiths, views of County Durham, and the coats of arms and monograms of colliery owners. A coal fitter was a 'middle man' who arranged the sale of coal between coal mine owners and purchasers
