The Spennymoor Settlement was a co-operative organisation which existed for the active encouragement of tolerant neighbourliness and voluntary social service, and to provide opportunities to increase the knowledge, widen the interests and cultivate the creative powers of its members.

Founded in 1931, the Spennymoor Settlement was still in existence in 1954. Records concerning the Settlement can be found in the records of Durham Rural Community Council, ref: D/DRCC.
