Photograph of 'the old pear tree', Embleton The old pear tree of Embleton was known to children a century ago. Mr I Hayton's School House stood next to this tree. This house is shown on the tithe plan, 1837 as belonging to the church and may be the one used by the Curate of Embleton. In 1758 when the Rev. Minster Fitzherbert Etherington Curate of Embleton was buried in the church yard here. (1 photograph, 15 cm. x 10 cm., colour) n.d. [1989]
