The Eldon Collection

This collection consists of deeds of title to land purchased, mainly in the south-east of County Durham, by successive Earls of Eldon.

John Scott, 1st Earl of Eldon, was born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne on 4 June 1751. He was the third son of William Scott, a coal merchant.
