Copy will of John Eden of Windlestone, baronet, made on 31 August 1792 amended on 3 September 1799 Recites marriage settlement of 23 and 24 March 1767 Confirms that his eldest son, Robert, inherits manor of Windlestone and his other son Morton John inherits a manor, land and coal mines in County Durham after the testator's uncle, Morton Davison's death. Bequeaths to his younger son John, his father-in-law Peter Johnson and his brother William Lord Auckland and his son-in-law Henry Methold all his manors, tenements and tithes in Preston upon Tees, Norton, Brandon, Redworth, Ramshaw, Coxhoe, Crossgate, Bishop Auckland, Heworth, North Riding, Downing Street in London. Devises £1500 to be shared between his 8 daughters: Dorothea, Maria, Catherine, Dulcibella, Anne, Emmaline, Eleanor and Charlotte. Gives £20 to his mother and parents-in-law, his son-in-law, Henry Methold, esq. and land stewards William Taylor and James Wilson. £25 to his servants John Birdsale, James Richardson and Henry Thompson. £50 to his house steward John Robson. £10 and all his clothes and linen to his footman Ambrose Wheatley and smaller amounts to several other servants together with year's wages. Wishes to be buried at St Helen's, Auckland parish between his two wives. Appoints his son Robert Eden the only executor of his will
