A new County Council was created on 1 April 2009, amalgamating the former County Council (1974 - 2009) and the seven District Councils in County Durham: Chester-le-Street; Derwentside; Durham City; Easington; Sedgefield; Teesdale; Wear Valley.County Durham Development Company Ltd (CDDC) encourages innovation and strategic investment in the County on behalf of Durham County Council and plays a central role in shaping the County's future economic profile. This includes introducing businesses to the County's comprehensive property portfolio.
