Catalogue Description

Also known as the 'Big Meeting', the Durham Miners' Gala is held annually on the second Saturday in July and was first held in 1871.

It is a huge event in the region and therefore features heavily in many of our collections. We have many programmes, similar to this one, and photographs. There are also video clips (see D/DVD 3/1).

We also hold a large number of photographs. The records of the Durham Miners' Association (Ref: D/DMA) may also be of interest.
