Major John Francis Clark of Stanley (Ref: D/X 2051)

John Francis Clark was born in 1920 in Middlesbrough. He married Doris in Stanley in 1948.
He graduated from Durham Johnston School and Mid-Essex Technical College and School of Art.
He worked for Durham County Council in the Planning Department 1937-1948 and from 1948 to 1951 in the Planning Department of Essex County Council.
He obtained a diploma in public administration from London University in 1951. He also obtained teaching certificate in psychology and sociology in 1964.
He served abroad in India, Singapore, Hong Kong with 8 DLI (service no. 4455807) and with 2nd/10th Gurkha Rifles (service no. 384216). He retired from active service in 1974 and was awarded the honorary rank of Major.
