The Amateur Historian changed its name to The Local Historian from the first issue in 1968 (Volume 8, Number 1). It has remained a quarterly journal, although the Volume numbers changed every year from 1988 onwards, instead of every two years, so that there were four Numbers per Volume, instead of eight.
