About this Parish

No church dedication. Formerly an ancient parish in the Diocese of Durham, it became part of the Diocese of Newcastle in 1990. The original registers, from 1783 to 1812, are deposited with Durham University Library Archives and Special Collections, Palace Green, Durham, DH1 3RN, UK, and from 1813 onwards, they are deposited with Northumberland Archives, Woodhorn, QEII Country Park, Ashington, Northumberland, NE63 9YF, UK. Indexes and microfilm copies of some registers are available in the Durham Record Office (see below for details)

Parts of this parish became part of these parishes: Castleside St. John.
