Collierley St. Thomas was created in 1843 from Lanchester All Saints.

Parts of this parish became part of these parishes: Annfield Plain St. Aidan, Beamish (Stanley) St. Andrew, Burnopfield St. James, Dipton St. John the Evangelist, Greencroft Mission.
