Deptford St. Andrew was created in 1844 from Bishopwearmouth St. Michael and All Angels.

Parts of this parish became part of these parishes: Bishopwearmouth (Ayres Quay) St. Stephen, Millfield St. Mark, Pallion St. Luke.
