About this Parish

Holmside (Burnhope) St. John was created in 1865 from Chester-le-Street St. Mary and St. Cuthbert, Lanchester All Saints, Tanfield St. Margaret and Witton Gilbert St. Michael and All Angels.

Parts of this parish became part of these parishes: Annfield Plain St. Aidan, Craghead St. Thomas, South Moor St. George.
