Bramwell junior; John Davison; Richard Markham; William Hill; - subscription list to contribute £100,000 at £100 per share towards the scheme -with list of 141 names, giving residence, number of shares and sum subscribed; - articles from the Tyne Mercury of 15 November 1825 regarding the proposed bridge; - copy letter from John Bell at Windmill Hill to Thomas Mulreader at Blaydon 3 January 1828: 'I see by the Papers an intention of having a Bridge across the Tyne near your place, in writing to Capt Sam Brown the other day I mentioned the project and I intending to write him again in a few days if you can give me any information on the subject I will mention it to him and he may project a Chain Bridge'; - copy letter from John Bell at High Street, Gateshead to Thomas Wilson, post master in South Shields 20 January 1834: 'I have lately returned from the Neighbourhood of Bristol where I was for nearly three months setting out a line of Railway during which I met with a Gentleman who was anxious of possessing every particular relative to the project of the Suspension Bridge across the Tyne at Shields. If you have duplicates of any of the Published Papers (like those you presented to the Antiquarian Society) to spare, I should feel Particularly obliged as I would like to send him every thing I can on the subject' [the writer seems to be referring obliquely to Clifton Suspension Bridge; the railway line mentioned must be the Great Western Railway]; - letter from William Bell at Knavesmire House, Whitley Bay (Northumberland) to A. G. Stevenson 9 March 1918: 'Kindly accept the enclosed, feel sure they will interest you'; - letter from A. G. Stevenson to William Bell 11 March 1918: 'I am very much obliged for the papers about the Suspension Bridge over the Tyne which was contemplated in 1825. There are some interesting names among the promoters'.
