Private Eddie Bell was a prisoner of war in the Second World War. He was captured on 27 July 1942 at Benghazi, Libya, but was taken to Italy in September 1942. He remained a prisoner until the armistice with Italy in September 1943, when he was set free by the prison camp guards. He travelled, with fellow prisoners, to Switzerland, where they were interned for the rest of the war. William Edward Bell died in July 1994.
