Catalogue Description
National Playing Fields AssociationVarious papers of the Durham County Playing Fields Association were deposited in the Durham Record Office by the Association. These are listed under the mnemonic D/PFA.
The late E.R. Hanby Holmes and his heirs passed on to the Association various papers relating to Holmes' secretaryship (1927-1931) and to the Barnard Castle branch of the Association. A copy of the list of these papers is provided as an appendix to this section.
E.R. Hanby Holmes was the first secretary of the Durham County P.F.A. (1927-31), he was also the moving spirit behind the establishment of a branch in Barnard Castle.
