Durham Municipal Borough Council gained the powers of:
1) Local Board of Health (1848 Public Health Act)
2) Urban Sanitary Authority (1875 Public Health Act)
3) Urban District Council to [1935] (1894 Local Government Act)

Ref: Du 3/13/1-2By order of the Local Government Board, the St. Nicholas Burial Board was abolished on 9 November 1905, and its powers transferred to the Corporation of Durham.
