Catalogue Contents
Gateshead St. James and Venerable Bede was created in 1983 from Gateshead St. James and Gateshead Venerable Bede.
The original Church of The Venerable Bede was declared redundant on 3rd July 1984 under the Pastoral Measure of 1983 and subsequently demolished.
The Church Hall estimated to have been built in the latter half of the 19th century and being directly to the south of the former Church, was converted for Church use in 1988, and financed by the Church Urban Fund.
The Church is built parallel to Wordsworth Street and is orientated north/south, so the liturgical 'east end' is to the north.
