Catalogue Description
Popular Politics was an oral history project carried out by the North East Labour History Society, starting in 2011 and concluding on 13 March 2013 with a large celebratory event of 100 people in the Bewick Room at the Central Library, Newcastle. The archives comprise oral history recordings of in-depth interviews with North East political and trade union activists, plus a series of short interviews of people with Cooperative Society [Co-op] memories recorded at an event at Beamish Museum.
Transcripts were partially created by Popular Politics participants, later checked and completed by Durham County Record Office volunteers.
