HCR200 is a project that was established in 2019 with the following objectives:- Celebrating the Hetton Colliery Railway, designed by George Stephenson and opened in 1822, an internationally important development in the early history of railways.
- To promote the educational, cultural and historical importance of the Hetton Colliery Railway.
- To celebrate the Hetton Colliery Railway Bicentenary in 2022, including exhibitions, public lectures, work with local schools, publishing books, and a conference to mark the bicentenary weekend
