Golding, Miss Annie
Born 1897; worked for the Ministry of National Service Recruiting Office at South Shields from 1916 to 1917
The Women's Voluntary Service for Air Raid Precaution was formed in May 1938. The name changed in February 1939 to the Women's Voluntary Service for Civil Defence (W.V.S.) It was organised in co-operation with Government departments and local authorities.
Ref: D/DLI 13/3/113The Comrades of the Great War, founded in 1917, was a British ex-soldiers' association. It merged with others to found the British Legion in 1921.
Ref: D/DLI 13/5/9This Association was formed at Consett in 1966 to maintain a united comradeship of all who served with the Allied Forces in the Western Desert Campaign and to promote the welfare of those who served and the families of those who served, and to assist relatives of those who were killed to visit their graves.
