Longhill Mission or National School opened in the parish of Seaton Carew in 1874; transferred to the new chapelry of Hartlepool, St. Aidan, on 21 September 1888.
The Infants' school opened on the Longhill site in 1902.
St. Aidan's War Memorial School opened in Loyalty Road on 14 April 1926; the infants' department remained in Longhill school until c. 1959.
The School was reorganised in 1966 when the seniors transferred to other schools, and St. Aidan's became a combined junior and infant school.
