According to Young's "Guide to the Administrative Units of England: II Northern England" the ecclesiastical parish of Billingham St Aidan was created in 1959 from the ancient parish of Billingham.
The original church, now the Lady Chapel was dedicated by Bishop Michael Ramsey in June 1955. Dedication and hard work by the congregation over the years has seen St Aidan's develop into a church capable of holding services for up to 300 people, together with a church hall which can hold upto 150 people for various church and social functions. St Aidan's also incorporates a lounge with kitchen facilities providing a confortable area for talks meetings and a number of other groups including Mothers Union, baptism preparation, confirmation classes and various arts and crafts groups.
