Catalogue Description

The parish of Blackhill, St. Aidan, was created in 1884 from parts of the parishes of Benfieldside and Consett. St. Aidan's church was built in 1885. The church was declared redundant in 1995 and closed on 31 December of that year, when the benefice was united with that of Consett, to create a new benefice of Consett.

St. Aidan's church closed on 31 December 1995.
